PIOB Secretariat Seeks Two Senior Advisors

(Madrid/31 October, 2006) - The Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) is an international body created in March 2005 to oversee the public interest activities of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), in particular IFAC's program of setting international audit, ethics and education standards as well as the activities of IFAC's Compliance Advisory Panel. This oversight is a key component within a broader program of IFAC reforms intended to restore the confidence of regulators, financial markets and the general public in the quality of audits and the international auditing profession.

The PIOB seeks two senior advisors to join its Secretariat in Madrid, Spain.

The Senior Advisor - Oversight will focus on management of the core oversight program of the PIOB. This role includes monitoring and continuous assessment of the programs and operations of assigned IFAC Public Interest Activity Committees (PIACs) such as the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. In this position, the candidate will also conduct focused research and analysis, formulate conclusions and provide appropriate advice and recommendations to the Board.

The focus of the Senior Advisor - External Relations will be twofold, with responsibility for maintaining both the PIOB's public image and its relationships with regulators and other key public interest stakeholders. In this role, the candidate will take primary responsibility for developing a comprehensive communications program covering the PIOB's public website, speaking engagements and other outreach opportunities. The candidate will also assist the PIOB to establish and maintain its key external relationships and, through monitoring, research and advisory support, to promote effective communications and co-ordination of efforts with these groups.

Both of these positions require a minimum undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline together with a minimum of ten years of pertinent work experience, three of which have been spent in a managerial capacity. For candidates with additional or educational or professional qualifications, the experience requirements are reduced to seven and two.

Individuals possessing certain combinations of knowledge, skills and experience may qualify for both positions, but interested candidates should study each job description carefully to ensure that their personal profile fits the position(s) for which they wish to apply.

Detailed job descriptions may be found on the PIOB's website at http://www.ipiob.org/JobsAtPIOB. Résumés (cvs) should be submitted by no later than 17 November, 2006.
