PIOB overseeing international audit, ethics and education standards for the accounting profession

On June 28^th, the PIOB celebrated its Fifth Anniversary with a cocktail-reception in the gardens of its Madrid headquarters.  The PIOB technical committee and staff were joined for the evening by members of the IFAC leadership, local authorities and other friends and colleagues who have contributed to the success of the PIOB over the past five years.

 

Speaking at the event were PIOB Chair Stavros Thomadakis and IFAC Deputy President Göran Tidström.  Fernando Restoy, the deputy chairman of the National Securities Commission of Spain, made the closing remarks in which he underscored the need to restore investor confidence in the audit profession and the role of the PIOB in achieving that goal.
